Salix - Latin, the willow
The species is named for John Gill Lemmon
or his wife, Sara Allen Plummer Lemmon,
early 20th century plant collectors in the American West.
Mt. Lemmon (Arizona) was later named for them

Tenthredinidae (Common Sawflies)
This sawfly makes the only round red/green willow leaf gall in California
with lenticels (wartlike scales, tubercles).
The gall protrudes on both sides of the leaf.
Larva feeds on willow (Salix lasiolepis and Salix lemmonii)
