Costa Rican Butterfly Vine

This sprawling vine may loses its leaves in cold weather.
A few years ago, a student volunteer worker thought is was dead and cut it down.
Fortunately, the student didn't dig up the root stock, and the vine eventually grew back
over the entrance to one of the greenhouses.
