This species is named after D.T. MacDougal, director of the Desert Laboratory, Tucson Arizona (U.S.) Fouquieria diguetii, "Palo Adan," "Adam's Tree" Pronounced di gay´ eye, after Leon Diguet, a French explorer who was investigating pearl fisheries on Santa Catalina Island in the Gulf of California Fouquieria fasciculata fasciculata=fascicle -- a cluster Fouquieria leoniliae, Species named for Dra. Leonila Vazquez, entomologist at the Instituto de Biologia de la Universidad Nacionale de Mexico. |
